Ballecho is a platform where users can look up populated basketball courts and reserve seats so that they can easily find basketball games without having to coordinate the whole ordeal themselves.
Ballecho's problem is that they are using a very rudimentary system. The users are required to join WhatsApp groups to learn if the courts are full, and the payment system is using PayMe and sending screenshots to confirm payment.
Hearing that they wanted to smoothen the payment procedure and have a team of developers experienced in mobile apps, I designed the app so that they could integrate different systems, such as payment and inventory management.
The mobile app has been tested and has entered the development stage.
Being a company in its early stage, Ballecho is very ambitious and is eager to expand its business, adding more and more features to its platform. The initial action was to add a Stripe payment system on his website, and have a plugin to manage his inventory. That was a quick and successful method that solved the problem at the time, and the app is an idea to be an expandable platform for future development.
After some discussion, we decided to emphasise the following themes:
At the beginning of the conversation, Ballecho expected the app to have a lot of features, I organised their ideas and created an information architecture map to organise the structure of the app and get a sense of how one would navigate within the app.
Later, we decided to trim down the app and focus on the core features first.
Based on the information architecture, I created a user flow chart. This flow chart is how the primary users would use the app.
Based on the user flow, I created some low-fidelity wireframes to help give me an idea of how the app would look and function. I then showed these designs to users to get their input.
I then created some high-fidelity designs. I have decided on a style similar to the neo-brutalist trend for the bold and playful visual style, suitable for a basketball booking and social networking platform.
The client is happy with the final design, initial usability testing also shows that users can finish tasks without help, and the project is now pending to be developed. I look forward to working with the development team and improving the app in the future with further testing.
